For this project, students created a large background using tempera paint and paint rollers. Then. students used a tracer of Degas’ dancer sculpture made by the teachers to trace and cut their own dancer out of black paper. Next, the students used a coffee filter, markers, and spray rubbing alcohol to create the tutu and bow. They cut a frame out of multiple colors of construction paper. They assembled everything with regular white glue. They used rubber stamps and ink to add the final details if they chose.
“My favorite part was using the rollers to make the background.”
